The Must-sees of the trip

Brienzer RothornYou start your train journey in the 2nd class on the Golden Pass route over the Brünig Pass into the Bernese Oberland to Brienz. There you board the steam train to the Brienzer Rothorn, where on a clear day you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Alpine peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
Pilatus – Hammetschwand liftCruise from Lucerne to Alpnachstad. The world’s steepest cogwheel railway awaits you here to take you up the Pilatus. With a gradient of up to 48 percent, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city and Lake Lucerne. You then travel to the Hammetschwand lift, a masterpiece of the “Belle Époque”, which is majestically enthroned in front of a rock face in the noble Bürgenstock resort. After the return journey on the mountain railway, you take the boat back to Lucerne.
Convertible cable carTrain journey to Stans, where the convertible cable car awaits you on the Stanserhorn. Here you can stand on the gondola roof and enjoy the breathtaking panorama.

Hotel Winkelried

Dorfpl. 5, 6362 Stansstad, Switzerland

The Hotel Winkelried is located directly on Lake Lucerne in the middle of an enchanting landscape. It has a pizzeria built partly into the lake, a lakeside restaurant with a wonderful view of Lake Lucerne and a traditional parlour where the Swiss stone pine walls create a cosy atmosphere. We welcome you for an aperitif in our bar, which is open Monday to Saturday from 5.00 pm.

Rigi

You will visit the Swiss Museum of Transport. You will then take the train to Vitznau, where you take the cogwheel railway to the Rigi, the “Queen of the Mountains”.

The return journey is on the Arth-Rigi cogwheel railway to Arth-Goldau.

Engelberg – Titlis

Drive to Titlis, where the world’s first revolving cable car awaits you, taking you up to an altitude of 3020 metres. In the afternoon, visit the monastery in Engelberg.

Gotthard mountain railway – Bellinzona

Travel on an Interregio train from Lucerne via the historic Gotthard mountain railway to Bellinzona. There you will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Castel Grande Castle and the charming old town.
