Iceland, Spitsbergen & Norway
Discover the beauty of Northern Europe with MS Amera.
On this cruise with MS Amera, you will experience the best of northern Europe. After relaxing hours at sea, you will visit the natural paradise of Iceland, where geysers and waterfalls characterise the landscape. MS Amera cruises past Jan Mayen to Spitsbergen and on to the North Cape before heading south along the beautiful Norwegian fjord coast towards the end of the cruise this time.
The Must-sees of the trip
- IsafjördurIsafjördur is a picturesque town in the west of Iceland and the centre of the Westfjords. Nestled in dramatic landscapes, surrounded by high mountains and crystal clear fjord waters, Isafjördur offers a fascinating mix of culture, history and breathtaking nature. Often referred to as the jewel of the Westfjords, this town is an ideal base for adventure and exploration in one of Iceland’s most unspoilt regions.
- AkureyriIceland’s “capital of the north” is the gateway to some of the most beautiful and unique experiences in Iceland, such as whale watching, the best ski resorts in Iceland and a unique spa where you can bathe in beer.
- Svolvaer / Lofoten (Norway)Svolvaer is the largest town in Lofoten and also the capital of the archipelago. If you want to spend your holiday on the Lofoten Islands, Svolvaer is the ideal starting point for discovering the islands. At least that’s what we did. Although the town is relatively small, it offers some exciting sights. The centre of Svolvaer invites you to take a stroll in a wonderful atmosphere. There are numerous restaurants and shops along the harbour that are well worth a visit. We enjoyed strolling along the quays in the harbour and taking in the beautiful scenery.

Your elegant holiday ship with first-class service
Cruise ship MS Amera
The chic silhouette, the large amount of space in generously designed rooms with plenty of maritime flair and the large number of comfortable outside cabins make MS Amera another jewel in the Phoenix ocean-going fleet. In combination with heart-warming service, a select range of food and drink, a variety of opportunities for sport, fun and relaxation as well as entertaining lectures and top-class shows, this all adds up to an all-round successful Phoenix holiday ship on which you will simply feel at home. The feeling of spaciousness and the tangible proximity to the water are the strengths of this elegant liner, which is sure to enchant you with its charm.
Spitsbergen
Spitsbergen, also known as Svalbard, is the northernmost point in the world. Svalbard is actually a group of islands located in the North Atlantic and is administered by Norway. Spitsbergen itself is subject to the so-called Spitsbergen Treaty of 1925.
If you have previously visited the North Cape in Norway and were proud of the latitude (71 degrees north), you can go one better here. At 78 degrees north, Svalbard is the northernmost point in the world that a normal traveller can reach.
The city of Tromso (Norway)
Hey Tromsø! This friendly little town in the far north of Norway is truly a special destination. Tromsø is not only by far the largest city in the region, it is also surrounded by spectacular Arctic nature. Anyone travelling to Tromsø can therefore look forward to urban flair in the middle of the remoteness of northern Norway. For orientation: Tromsø city centre is located on an island called Tromsøya. In the town centre (where most of the hotels are located), everything is within walking distance and it is very cosy. You can reach the mainland via a striking bridge (Tromsøbrua). The famous Arctic Ocean Cathedral, for example, is enthroned here.
Geiranger
In the west of Norway, at the end of the Geirangerfjord, lies the small but tranquil town of Geiranger. There are only around 250 inhabitants, but hundreds of thousands of tourists visit every year. The surrounding nature and the Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005, are absolutely marvellous.
