The Must-sees of the trip
- Málaga’s historic centreMálaga’s historic centre boasts some of the city’s most unique monuments. Churches, convents and palaces of great cultural and artistic value make up this maze of Moorish-style streets, most of them pedestrianised. The atmosphere on the terraces of the bars and restaurants will liven up your stroll. The famous Calle Larios is the central axis of the historic centre, with almost every street leading off from it. It is the heart of the district’s social, commercial and economic activity. Entirely pedestrianised, it is home to the best-known fashion and interior design boutiques. It’s the ideal place for a morning’s shopping. In August, the streets of the historic centre are decked out in colour for the famous Feria de Málaga, with its fiestas, music and Andalusian folklore. A date not to be missed.
- Visit the city of CordobaCordoba is world-famous for its mosque-cathedral. Its old town, a World Heritage Site, is dotted with strolling streets, flower-filled courtyards, pleasant squares and lively taverns where you can sample the local cuisine or enjoy a good flamenco show. Spring is the ideal time of year, when orange and jasmine blossom fill the city with their delicious fragrance. And in May, Cordoba becomes alive with its many traditional festivals.
- CadizCadiz is one of the oldest cities in Western Europe, founded by the Phoenicians and home to archaeological remains dating back more than 3,100 years. A rock in the middle of the sea, it looks like an offshore platform. It’s a destination renowned for the hospitality of its residents, its flower-filled squares, its architecture, its wall falling sheer into the ocean and its old town. If you visit Andalusia in February, don’t miss the carnival. Places to see in Cadiz: the New Cathedral of Cadiz, Santa Catalina Castle, the city walls and Town Hall Square.

Caminito del Rey
This almost eight-kilometre route on the outskirts of Malaga (Andalusia) was once considered one of the most dangerous in the world. Today, the route is fully developed, and although it is safer, one thing hasn’t changed: the unique sensation of walking on footbridges built over gorges more than 100 metres high. The views are unforgettable. The Caminito del Rey route is spectacular from start to finish, as it winds its way through gorges, canyons and a large valley.
It passes through the landscape of the Los Gaitanes gorge, a gorge carved out by the Guadalhorce River, with walls up to 700 metres deep. This area is also home to a large number of plant and animal species: if you’re lucky, you might spot mountain birds such as the Egyptian vulture, griffon vulture and golden eagle, as well as wild boar and ibex.
Alhambra
The Alhambra is a fortified medieval palace in Granada. It is one of the highest places in Spain. The Alhambra palace complex dates back to the period of the Moorish rulers (the Nasrid sultans). The name comes from the Arabic qasr alhamrã, meaning ‘the Red Palace’. The red colour comes from the red clay mixed with the stones, and in the evening light, the palace complex appears in a beautiful dark red. The fortress (Alcazaba) is strategically located on a hill. It can be seen from the centre of Granada. Within the walls of the fortress are some very fine Nasrid Arab palaces, the magnificent gardens of the Generalife summer palace, imposing Christian churches and medieval towers.
Seville
This escapade will take you to Seville via Málaga, Estepa and Osuna. Seville lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir, Spain’s only navigable river. Characterised by a mixture of styles that bear witness to its rich past, Seville boasts a unique architecture and a wealth of culture that is no less captivating. A true jewel of Andalusia, it is one of the most attractive and most visited cities in the world. On this tour, you’ll discover Santa Cruz, the historic quarter, and the impressive Parque de Maria Luisa, once the grounds of San Telmo Palace. You will also visit the Gold Tower, built to control access to the city from the Guadalquivir, as well as the cathedral and the Giralda, the former minaret of the great Almohad mosque. In your free time, you can also wander through the narrow streets.
