Dubai
The United Arab Emirates is a country in the Middle East that stretches along the Arabian Gulf and consists of seven emirates. Like its capital Abu Dhabi, Dubai has quickly developed into an ultra-modern metropolis with huge shopping centres and majestic skyscrapers. However, authenticity and traditions are still present in the smaller emirates, which are still largely unknown to tourists.
With its ultra-modern hotels and countless entertainment options, Dubai is an excellent choice for a holiday that combines sightseeing and relaxation. Dubai’s breathtaking attractions such as the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain attract and fascinate tourists from all over the world. Nevertheless, the city has retained some of its traditional character and you can find neighbourhoods that give a more authentic picture of the local culture. The city skyline is surrounded by a vast desert landscape… A breathtaking setting for this luxurious metropolis that has so much to offer!
As a modern metropolis, Dubai lies in the middle of a desert landscape characterised by bright sunshine and bordered by beautiful beaches. The hotels, each more luxurious than the last, offer a wide range of services and activities. The city itself offers a multitude of must-see sights and excellent addresses for shopping and having a drink with friends.
The Must-sees of the trip
- Burj KhalifaThe ultra-modern buildings characterise the cityscape, where excess is the central feature. Look up and marvel at the grandiose skyscrapers: you can’t miss the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest structure ever built by man. To give you a better idea of what this building means, compare it to the most famous skyscraper in the world: the Empire State Building in New York. The New York skyscraper is 381 metres high (431 metres if you count its antenna) and therefore only half the height of the Burj Khalifa. Construction of the Burj Khalifa began on 21 September 2004 and was completed on 4 January 2010, more than a year after the planned date. The skyscraper is appreciated for the fact that it accommodates a large number of residential floors, which is still very unusual today. The Burj Khalifa has two vantage points that offer surprising views. On the 124th floor, at a height of 442 metres, you will find the Khalifa Tower’s only vantage point to date. This is undoubtedly the best vantage point in the whole of Dubai for overlooking the city. The second, recently opened viewpoint is now attracting all eyes since it has become the highest in the world (ahead of the Canton Tower in Guangzhou). The 555 metre high viewpoint is located on the 148th floor and offers surprising views where you can see the city in miniature.
- AquaventureThe Aquaventure Waterpark offers iconic and revolutionary rides and attractions, including Medusa’s Lair, Shockwave and Blackout. Located right next to the Atlantis Hotel, The Palm, it is guaranteed that you will have an unforgettable time at this popular park. With an area of over 200,000 m2 since its expansion, it is officially the largest water park in the world, but also the one with the most slides, and for good reason! This huge theme park has 105 slides and attractions centred around three different buildings, as well as sea and water experiences, private beaches and playgrounds for children of all ages.
- Dubai FountainIf the Dubai Fountain were a simple fountain, it would be impressive. And yet in Dubai, the excesses cannot stop … This fountain is accompanied by a magnificent show. The show, which happens several times a day, mixes light effects, various water jets and is accompanied by music. Different styles of music are used for the various shows. Classical music, international music or Arabic music, … A completely different world every time!
