Lanzarote
With its unique landscapes and natural wealth, Lanzarote offers an extraordinary experience. Its volcanoes, mysterious caves and surf spots make it a captivating destination to explore.
Lanzarote has everything your heart desires: sunny skies, unspoilt beaches and crystal-clear water. But its natural wonders go far beyond the obvious. With over 300 volcanic peaks, the island has a lunar landscape with shades of pink, purple and ochre. Hidden beneath the earth’s surface, caves, tunnels and lakes are waiting to be explored. Surfers will find a paradise here, with perfect waves all year round. Rumour even has it that Lanzarote was once part of the lost city of Atlantis. Come and discover this unique gem in the Canary Islands in Spain.
The Must-sees of the trip
- Timanfaya National ParkThe region often referred to as Montañas del Fuego (Mountains of Fire) has a fascinating variety of geological phenomena and is home to a unique endemic flora that flourishes underground due to the high temperatures. Timanfaya is a living laboratory for biological research and is characterised as one of the most extraordinary natural habitats in Europe. In recognition of its uniqueness, UNESCO declared the Timanfaya Volcanic Park a national park in 1993.
- Cactus gardenDiscover the fascinating world of cactuses in the Jardín de Cactus in Lanzarote, where you can see over a thousand succulents from various desert and arid regions. Located in the village of Guatiza, the garden is the latest project by the famous artist César Manrique, whose works can also be seen throughout the garden. The garden is arranged like a large amphitheatre, with terraced plants that offer an extraordinary visual experience. A restored windmill, which was once used to produce gofio (a type of Canarian flour), stands in the centre of the garden, adding to the charm of the place.
- Mirador del RíoThis unique viewpoint is one of César Manrique’s most famous works. From the platforms on the cliffs, you have a magnificent view of the north-west coast of the island and the neighbouring island of Isla Graciosa. And if you’re afraid of heights, don’t worry, you can also enjoy the view from inside.
