Make a grand tour of Europe in the Mediterranean and then set course for South America via Casablanca and Cape Verde to explore Rio, Buenos Aires, the Falkland Islands, Argentina, the snow-capped mountains of Ushuaia, Valparaíso in Chile and much more. Your cruise around the world then takes you to the Pacific, where you will discover Tahiti, French Polynesia and the Cook Islands before sailing to the famous coasts of New Zealand and Australia. Discover the unspoilt beauty of Bali, the hustle and bustle of Singapore, the authenticity of Malaysia, the postcard image of Phuket and the cosmopolitan warmth of Colombo. The ship then sets course for Europe and makes a detour through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal to discover the temples and ancient treasures of Jordan and Egypt.

  1. SydneyAfter disembarking from your MSC cruise ship in Sydney, you will notice that Port Jackson divides the city into two parts, connected by the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Harbour Tunnel. The south shore is the centre of the action and this is where you will find the city centre and most of the sights and activities. The classic images of Sydney are most often taken from Circular Quay, making this crowded area on the shores of Sydney Cove a logical and pleasant starting point for exploring the city with the Sydney Opera House, the sprawling Royal Botanic Gardens to the east of Sydney Cove and the historic neighbourhood of The Rocks to the west. In contrast, the glitzy and slightly vulgar Darling Harbour to the west of the city centre is a recently modernised tourist and entertainment area. During an excursion with MSC Grand Voyages, you can discover the picturesque Sydney Opera House, which is located just a few steps from Circular Quay on the seafront at Bennelong Point. It is best viewed from the side, when its high roofs, reminiscent of sailboats to some and white shells to others, give the building an almost ethereal quality.
  2. TokyoIt is a city of many faces: futuristic buildings and skyscrapers, historical and religious monuments, old neighbourhoods and lush parks. Not to mention art, music, design, shopping and theatre. This city has it all. So much, in fact, that it is impossible to see it all. MSC offers some excursions to give you the opportunity to focus your visit on the must-see places, such as the historic neighbourhood of Asakusa, named after the city guardian of Tokyo and famous for the Buddhist temple Sensō-ji, dedicated to the Bodhisattva Kannon. You can also join an excursion to marvel at the modern city of Tokyo, from the famous Shibuya district to Hachico Junction, the busiest intersection in the world, where six major roads converge. Afterwards, you can lose yourself among the city’s many ultra-modern buildings, such as the Sumida Hokusai Museum, the experimental architecture of the Ginza district or the almost 100 metre high Ao Building. Take a stroll along the Sumida River, which crosses the city, for a panoramic view of the wonders of Tokyo.
  3. Honolulu Pearl HarborWho hasn’t dreamed of travelling to Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii on the beautiful island of Oahu, where the most beautiful beaches in the world stretch out? With your MSC World Cruise, you’ll have the opportunity to go ashore in this enchanting place, perfect for relaxation and peace of mind. Here you can relax in the sun, savour Hawaiian food and cocktails and travel back in time to experience the history of Pearl Harbor. The former military base, which became famous through the 1941 attack by the Japanese Air Force during World War II, is located in Honolulu County. A historic site full of memory and reflection, where you can complement your excursion with MSC Cruises with a visit to the USS Missouri, a warship from that era that is kept in perfect condition with some original parts such as the wooden deck.

The entertainment on offer is varied and includes a spectacular casino, a disco, a 4D cinema, a cigar lounge, a 1200-seat theatre and live music in the bars and lounges. And if you prefer a quieter evening, enjoy a romantic drink under the stars.

The leisure facilities are equally impressive, with a fabulous spa, an outdoor water complex and an indoor pool with a sliding roof so you can swim whenever you want. Then there’s a tennis court, mini golf, bowling, billiards, a state-of-the-art gym and a running track.

Our MSC cruise excursion takes you to Pico da Torre, 205 metres above sea level, and Pico dos Barcelos, 355 metres above sea level, both of which offer panoramic views of the city.

For even more dizzying heights, we drive on to Cabo Girão. It is the highest cliff in Europe and the second highest cliff in the world. Cross the glass skywalk and gaze down a vertical drop of 500 metres to the roaring Atlantic Ocean below.

If you have the time, a cable car can take you down the cliffs to the terraces at the foot of the cliffs.

Heraklion, a port of call for MSC cruises in the Mediterranean, is the capital of Crete and a dynamic city with a rich history. As you arrive in the harbour, you can admire the majestic Mount Yioúhtas and the ancient fortress of Heraklion on the western pier of the port. You can discover the mythical palace of Knossos or visit historic monasteries and churches. Crete is a fascinating part of the Greek islands just waiting to be explored. The Greek myth of Ariadne’s thread, the labyrinth and the Minotaur is known all over the world. On a fascinating MSC excursion, you can visit the Palace of Knossos, the ancient site where the legend originated. Built on the ruins of an extensive Neolithic site, you will explore a labyrinth of over 800 rooms. On a guided tour, you will have the opportunity to discover Minoan columns, fairytale frescoes and the king’s throne. You will then reach the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, which houses an important collection of Minoan artefacts: Idols made of alabaster, jewellery, figurines and the sarcophagus of Aghia Triada.

What if your MSC World cruise could take you to one of America’s most fascinating cities? San Francisco, the next stop on your holiday, will make your dream come true.

In addition to its numerous sights, it is also known for its great cultural and architectural value, which makes it the most European of all transatlantic cities. San Francisco is also unique due to its special geographical location. The city rises above green hills while jutting directly into the sea – an enchanting sight that allows you to observe landscapes full of colour and harmony. As soon as you step ashore, you begin one of the most popular MSC tours. Marvel at San Francisco’s landmark: the Golden Gate Bridge, the famous red bridge that connects the city with Marin County. This structure is one of the wonders of the world and the boldest of its kind ever created by American architecture: The 2700 metre long bridge is supported by two gigantic pylons, which were designed to withstand the strong winds and powerful currents of the bay.
