2. BrixenBrixen – city of culture. As the oldest town in Tyrol surrounded by centuries-old buildings, you can experience history up close on holiday in South Tyrol. Traditional hotels and smart residential buildings from the turn of the century characterise the townscape of St. Ulrich. Tourism has been the town’s most important economic sector since the 19th century. The pedestrian zone in Ortisei, which connects the parish church of St. Ulrich with St. Anthony’s Church, is described as the most beautiful shopping street in the Dolomites.
