The Must-sees of the trip
- Christmas market in BolzanoBolzano’s Christmas market, the oldest in South Tyrol together with Bressanone, was organised for the first time in 1991 and has been attracting large numbers of visitors from near and far from the very beginning. 70 exhibitors on Waltherplatz, selected products and excellent musical accompaniment create an extraordinary Christmas atmosphere. The Original South Tyrolean Christmas Markets now have five markets and invite you to a unique, varied discovery tour through the emotions of the Christmas season.
- BrixenBrixen – city of culture. As the oldest town in Tyrol surrounded by centuries-old buildings, you can experience history up close on holiday in South Tyrol. The combination of modernity and tradition is not only recognisable in the architecture, but also in the character of the people of Bressanone/Brixen. The cultural scene in Bressanone/Brixen is imaginative and exciting. With imaginative exhibitions and cultural tours. Brixen – living hospitality. Over a glass of white wine, harvested from the grapes of the surrounding vineyards, you will get to know and love South Tyrolean hospitality. Nowhere else can you get to know South Tyrolean tradition and secret recipes as well as over a good glass of Sylvaner and a local dish in a cosy atmosphere.
- Val Gardena, with its famous villages of Castelrotto and St. UlrichSt. Ulrich, has become famous for its artistic wood carvings, which have been made here by skillful carving families for generations. At the same time, the handicrafts of Val Gardena still ensure a continuing boom in wood carving, which has much more to offer than the world-famous nativity figures. Traditional hotels and smart residential buildings from the turn of the century characterise the townscape of St. Ulrich. Tourism has been the town’s most important economic sector since the 19th century. The pedestrian zone in Ortisei, which connects the parish church of St. Ulrich with St. Anthony’s Church, is described as the most beautiful shopping street in the Dolomites. Holidaymakers and day visitors can shop here in pretty boutiques or enjoy a slice of homemade cake in one of the village’s many cafés.

South Tyrolean tradition and alpine lifestyle
Hotel Mühlener HOF**** Mühlen in Taufers
Via del canale, 16, 39032 Molini di Tures BZ, Italy
A gnarled walnut tree, the babbling brook of the Wiere and a few small mills that are no longer used to generate electricity. The Mühlenerhof is located in the centre of the small village of Mühlen in Taufers at 862 metres above sea level. Right in the centre and at the entrance to the Tauferer Ahrntal, with the two ski areas Speikboden and Klausberg of Skiworld Ahrntal just around the corner, nestled in idyllic villages and extensive fields between Sand in Taufers and Bruneck am Kronplatz. The Mühlenerhof bears the signature “Alpine Home” and stands for living South Tyrolean regionality.
Day trip to Luttach in the Ahrntal Valley and visit to the cot museum
The Maranatha Museum has been located in Luttach in the Ahrntal Valley since 2000: The name goes back to the Aramaic expression “Maranatha” and means “Our Lord come!”. At Christmas time, it has always been a tradition in the Ahrntal Valley to set up a nativity scene. The Christmas tree and Advent wreath, on the other hand, are customs that only emerged in the 20th century.
On display are traditional Tyrolean nativity scenes, some of which take up entire rooms and are elaborated in every detail. These include a 70 m² walk-in nativity scene with life-size wooden figures. There are also oriental and modern depictions.
The town of Bruneck
Unique variety. And in every respect.
We could hardly sum it up better if we had to describe Bruneck briefly and succinctly. With the main Alpine ridge to the north and the Dolomites to the south, Bruneck lies right in the middle. In the Pustertal valley, at the foot of the Kronplatz. Where everything comes together: the Tauferer Ahrntal and the Gadertal. The Ahr and the Rienz. The historic city flair and the alpine mountain world. Accordingly, the town has a colourful and diverse range of things to offer: Culture and tradition. Castles and museums steeped in history. Mountainous nature and leisure fun. Shopping experience. Great restaurants and cafés. Accommodation to suit every taste. Adventure and relaxation. And on the doorstep: the Kronplatz and the Dolomites. The perfect year-round holiday destination for nature lovers and active people. No matter how you want to discover it for yourself. Whether hiking or mountain biking, golfing or climbing, skiing or cross-country skiing.
