Experience the pre-Christmas atmosphere in Switzerland during this trip – enjoy a fantastic train journey in the GoldenPass Panoramic with wonderful views of the snow-covered Alpine landscape through the huge panoramic windows. In Montreux, the atmospheric Christmas market on Lake Geneva invites you to stroll around and in Zermatt, the wintery mountain idyll with views of the Matterhorn awaits you. On the outward and return journey, you will visit the festively decorated Christmas markets in Zurich and Bern.

The Must-sees of the trip

  1. Train journey GoldenPass Panoramic – MontreuxAfter breakfast, travel by coach to Gstaad. Stop for a stroll through the car-free town centre with its numerous exclusive shops, restaurants and hotels. In Gstaad, your impressive train journey begins on the GoldenPass Panoramic train to Montreux. Immerse yourself in the picturesque scenery and discover an unspoilt landscape with gorges, waterfalls, mountain forests and idyllic valleys. The train’s large panoramic windows give you an unrestricted view of the marvellous winter landscape. Once you arrive in Montreux, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Switzerland awaits you, located directly on the shores of Lake Geneva with many festively decorated stalls and culinary delights.   2. Excursion to ZermattToday, you will take the bus to Täsch – here you change to the shuttle train, which takes you to car-free Zermatt. Stroll through the village, where elegant shops and numerous restaurants alternate with ancient village houses. You have the option of taking the cogwheel railway up to the Gornergrat if the visibility is good (extra charge). Once at the top, you will be treated to marvellous views of the Matterhorn and the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, return by train to Täsch, where you change to the bus for the return journey to the hotel. (F,A)
  3. Collombey – BernAfter breakfast, depart and travel to Bern. Visit the traditional Christmas markets on Waisenhausplatz and Münsterplatz. Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town, past historic facades and festively decorated shop windows, or stop for lunch in one of the cosy restaurants. Then return to Luxembourg. (F)
