Cape Verde
The island of Sal is 30 km long and 12 km wide, where arid, barren nature contrasts with turquoise waters and golden beaches. The island’s highest point, Monte Gordo, stands 406 metres above the sea level. Its current name comes from the intensive production of salt, where it is still possible to see the structures used for this exploration. Today, the island of Sal is the archipelago’s main tourist destination.
Off the coast of Senegal, the Cape Verde archipelago, where the famous singer Cesaria Evora grew up, is made up of some fifteen islands. Each reveals wild, contrasting landscapes made up of immense expanses of dunes, volcanic reliefs and lush valleys. Their immaculate beaches are particularly popular for kitesurfing, windsurfing and diving. Culturally, the destination is steeped in Portuguese traditions associated with its history, but it is also marked by influences linked to its location at the crossroads of three continents. The place will captivate you with its colours, warm atmosphere and gentle way of life.

Kitesurfing
The island of Sal in Cape Verde lies off the west coast of Africa. A kitesurfing holiday in Cape Verde includes world-famous sites. The island offers the perfect combination of sun, waves and wind. In fact, with its wind statistics, the variety of spots for beginners and advanced kiteboarders, the quality of its waves and its unique landscapes, Sal in Cabo Verde is one of the ultimate destinations for kitesurfing. In this little goldmine for all water sports, the ocean offers a beautiful playground. An aquarium-style seabed for diving, and wind for kitesurfing, needless to say.
But there are also consistent waves for surfing and lagoons for stand-up paddling. The windy season lasts from October to June. From December to April, Sal gets some excellent swells for the wave riders. Whether you’re already a strapless expert, or want to learn how to ride your first wave with a directional board, there are plenty of spots on the island to suit all levels of rider. And there’s plenty to challenge even the most experienced riders.
