On the harbour promenade, where you can enjoy a unique view of the sea, you will find a wide range of restaurants, cafés and bars.
The Must-sees of the island

- Lake KournasVisit Lake Kournas on the island of Crete, which is surrounded by hills, just a few kilometres from the sea and on the border of Chania and Rethymnon. The lake was known as Korisia in ancient times and is now a tourist destination that attracts thousands of visitors every year. The water of the lake rises from nearby springs in the mountains in winter and falls in summer, revealing a strip of golden sand.

The covered market in Chania
What can you do in Chania to discover traditional products such as olive oil and honey? Visit the covered market halls, without any worries. Cretan markets are rarely covered. This one, however, is a benchmark in Crete. This covered market is laid out in the shape of a cross and hosts around eighty stallholders every day. You can’t visit Chania without sampling Cretan cuisine! Take advantage of your visit to have lunch in one of the many restaurants. The dishes are tasty and authentic!

The Venetian port
This magnificent little port is a benchmark for tourism. Forming a circular arc, it is surrounded by colourful Venetian-style houses.
On one side, the Janissary Mosque, with its pale pink domes, is the oldest mosque on Crete. It is now closed for worships and houses exhibitions. On the other side is Fort Firkas, built in the 17th century as a Turkish barrack and prison. Finally, the Venetian lighthouse remains the landmark of the port.
