The Must-sees of the trip

ChaniaChania, or the “Venice of the East”, is the second largest city in Crete and was built on the site of ancient Kydonia. One of the most picturesque cities in Greece, Chania is characterised by the artistic influences of the various cultures that have passed through it. The historic buildings have been renovated and now house museums and cultural centres. For example, the former Venetian monastery of Saint Francis now houses the Archaeological Museum of Chania.
HersonissosThis popular holiday resort is located about 26 km east of Heraklion. It is ideal for a holiday with family or friends, where you can alternate between the beach, culture and going out. The town has a lively atmosphere during the day and in the evening. Tavernas, boutiques, bars and discos are lined up along the beach promenade. The promenade is lined by several beaches where water sports providers offer their services. Distance to Heraklion airport: 20 km.
The Samaria GorgeThe hike through the Samaria Gorge is a must for any experienced hiker! The 18 km long gorge offers a remarkable landscape with 450 plant species, wooden bridges and narrow passages that can be up to 700 metres high.
