Gightis
Gigthis is an important archaeological site with roots dating back to the 6th century BC, when it was founded by the Phoenicians. Thriving in Roman times, it became a bustling port specialising in the export of raw materials such as gold, ivory and slaves brought by trans-Saharan caravans. The remains of Gigthis include a forum adorned with temples, a monumental arch, a market and two public baths.
