Passionate and generous, Italy offers its visitors a multitude of facets. A land of culture, art and good food, it is also an excellent holiday destination for anyone looking for relaxation in the sun, an active holiday by the sea or cultural excursions. From the Adriatic Sea to the Gulf of Sorrento to Calabria, from Sicily to Sardinia – the same passion for life, the famous dolce vita that celebrates beauty and happiness, can be found everywhere.

  1. SorrentoSorrento was already a popular holiday destination for the Roman emperors. You can discover its charm not only on Corso Italia, but also on a stroll through the shopping streets bordering the cathedral or in the shade of the white palaces built on the cliffs. The church of St Antonino from the 11th century and the Chiesa del Carmine, a baroque church in Piazza Tasso, are a must-see! The small beaches below the cliffs, equipped with jetties, are also perfect for a swim.
  2. IschiaThe island of Ischia is particularly famous for its thermal cures. Thanks to its volcanic soil, it has numerous hot springs, but Ischia has much more to offer, e.g. pretty villages that stretch along beautiful beaches and a mountainous hinterland that is ideal for hiking. Sant’Angelo in the south is particularly beautiful!
  3. Capri and AnacapriThe excursion begins with a 20-minute trip on a hydrofoil to Capri. Caves and rocks with special shapes are lined up along the coast. The highest peaks are Monte Tiberio (334 m) and Monte Solaro (589 m). The island is only 10 km2 in size and consists of two villages: Capri and Anacapri. Capri has always been a popular holiday destination, even in Roman times, when several emperors stayed here, such as Tiberius in the Villa Jovis. From 1800 onwards, the town was home to many painters, sculptors, writers and poets, which contributed to its worldwide fame. The city is characterised by its white houses and narrow, steep streets. In the morning, you will visit the Augustus Gardens, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Faraglioni. In Anacapri you will see the Villa San Michele, which was built at the end of the 19th century on the ruins of an ancient Roman villa by the Swedish writer and doctor Axel Munthe, who wrote the book of San Michele here, which has been translated into over 50 languages.

Park Hotel Terme Mediterraneo

Italy, Gulf of Naples, Ischia

The Park Hotel Terme Mediterraneo consists of two parts: the “Parco centrale” and the surrounding buildings, which are located in a 20,000 m2 park with fruit trees and vines. The hotel not only impresses with its proximity to nature, but also with its simple but friendly atmosphere, which is ideal for a relaxing holiday. In the swimming pools with a view of the surrounding mountains, you can enjoy the underground thermal water, which is naturally heated to between 28 and 35 degrees. For the cuisine, the hotel focuses on local and organic specialities, accompanied by a good selection of regional wines. The beach “Citara & Poseidon Garden” is approx. 1 km away (free shuttle). The centre of “Forio” is approx. 3 km away. Local standards: 4 stars, Rooms: 85, Wifi (at the reception). Type of catering: Half board. Distance to the airport: approx. 50 km.

You will travel on board a van (maximum of 8 passengers) along the beautiful Amalfi Coast. During the first planned one-hour stop in Positano, you can use your free time to stroll through the streets and shops and soak up the charm of this enchanting town. The village is characterised by its steep alleyways and colourful houses built on the hillside, but is also known for the production of cotton and linen clothing.

The journey continues to Amalfi, Italy’s first seaside town, which was also the home of Flavio Gioia, the inventor of the compass. He introduced the laws of navigation that went down in history as the Tabula de Amalpha (Amalfitan Tavole). During your two-hour visit, you will also see the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea, which was built in the 9th century. It is enthroned in the centre of Amalfi and cannot be missed with its monumental staircase!

Ravello, a small village situated slightly higher up, impresses every visitor with its unrivalled tranquillity. Here you can visit Villa Rufolo, a true artistic jewel with its small cloister, towers and garden overlooking the Bay of Salerno. It was in Ravello that Wagner was inspired to write Parsifal.

This excursion starts at the harbour of Sorrento, where you will board a typical Sorrento gozzo boat and sail along the coast to Capri. During the crossing, you can observe the picturesque and colourful fishing village of Marina Grande, the ruins of the Roman Villa Regina Giovanna, a natural waterfall and other wonders that the coast has to offer.

You will explore the island of Capri by boat and make several stops to marvel at the impressive caves. You will see the Arch of Nature, Villa Curzio Malaparte, the Faraglioni rocks and the Punta Carena lighthouse. If conditions permit and the waiting time is no more than 30 minutes, you will have the opportunity to enter the Blue Grotto (entrance ticket not included in the price).

You will then have a break, during which you will have the opportunity to swim, snorkel or enjoy a cool drink and a snack (included in the price) on board. The ship will then drop anchor (mooring fee not included in the price), giving you 3 or 4 hours to explore the island on your own before returning to the harbour of Piano di Sorrento.

This wonderful excursion includes a beautiful drive along the coast to Castellammare di Stabia and a visit to the ruins of Pompeii.

In the afternoon, you will take the bus to Mount Vesuvius, which is 1000 metres above sea level. You will cover the remaining 279 metres to the crater rim on foot.

Pompeii lies at the foot of the 1279 metre-high Mount Vesuvius, which is still one of the largest active volcanoes in the world today. The last eruption took place in 1944 and in 79 A.D. the small, flourishing town was engulfed by a violent volcanic eruption and was forgotten for many centuries. It was not until 1748 that wall paintings were discovered by chance. However, major excavations were not carried out until 1860 under the direction of archaeologist Giuseppe Fiorelli. In 1998, Pompeii was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most interesting sights include the Temple of Apollo, the basilica and the amphitheatre. Incidentally, its fertile soil is used to produce unique wines, including Lacrima Christi (the tears of Christ).
