The Must-sees of the trip
- The Masai Mara National ReserveThe reserve offers beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife. It is perhaps the only remaining region in Kenya where visitors can see animals in the same abundance as they existed a century ago. With more than 450 bird species. Explore the plains and hills for a chance to see elephants, black-maned lions, leopards, buffaloes, cheetahs and various species of ungulates. Arrival, check into Mara Fig Tree Camp and lunch. Photo safari in the afternoon, dinner and overnight at the camp. The Masai Mara National Reserve is the flagship game park in Kenya. Its proximity to Lake Victoria as well as the presence of the Mara River make it a privileged place that can support numerous herbivores and therefore many predators throughout the year. With a bit of luck, you can see lions, cheetahs and even leopards in this reserve. The reserve merges into the Serengeti plains in the south, in Tanzania. To the west is the most famous region of the reserve, which is dominated by the Siria escarpment and through which the Mara River flows. Just a few metres from the border is an observation point for hippos. The Great Mara ecosystem includes the Masai Mara National Reserve, the Mara Triangle and several Masai conservancies, including: Koiyaki, Lemek, Ol Chorro Oiroua, Ol kinyei, Siana, Maji Moto, Naikara, Ol Derkesi, Kerinkani, Oloirien and Kimintet. As in the Serengeti, wildebeest are the predominant mammals in the Masai Mara and their numbers are estimated at several million. Around July each year, these animals migrate northwards from the Serengeti plains in search of new grazing grounds and return south again around October. The Great Migration is one of the most impressive natural events in the world.
- Lake Nakuru National ParkThe park is known for its rich birdlife. Lake Nakuru is one of the alkaline lakes of the Rift Valley and a fantastic bird sanctuary, its shores are sometimes populated by waterfowl. The famous ornithologist Roger Tory Peterson described the lake as “the greatest bird show on earth”. Other wildlife seen in the park include the rhinoceros, lion, cheetah and the most elusive of all cats, the leopard. The most famous of the lakes in the Great Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru National Park, is known for its beautiful birdlife. The 188 square kilometre park is a paradise for those particularly interested in birding and also offers the opportunity to see white rhino, the rare Rothschild giraffe, large herds of buffalo and an abundance of different plains mammals. Observations of leopards resting in the branches of acacia trees are common. The 40 square kilometre alkaline lake is located in the park and has been awarded the Ramsar World Conservation Site designation. Lake Nakuru is one of the most beautiful national parks in Kenya. Flanked by rocky escarpments, acacia woodlands and at least one waterfall, the park is beautiful all year round and home to endangered black and white rhino, lion, leopard, hippo and Rothschild’s giraffe.
- Lake NaivashaThe surrounding region is an important horticultural area. Lake Naivasha is a habitat for birds and other animals. Colobus monkeys are often seen in the canopy of the acacia forests around the lake, and buffalo, waterbuck and eland are often seen grazing on the northern shore of the lake.

It is the ideal destination for travellers seeking an African safari infused with the vibrant spirit of the continent and surrounded by unsurpassed comfort. The camp features meticulously designed interiors that are a harmonious blend of different textures, innovative and practical aesthetics and a modern interpretation of the essential elements of a romantic and luxurious tented safari.
Crescent Island
This small, peaceful island nestles on the eastern shore of Lake Naivasha. In a spectacular mountain setting, dotted with mud holes, ponds and acacia forests, the sanctuary is visited by a rich and diverse birdlife, joined by zebra, impala, black wildebeest and giraffe.
The excursion will be an opportunity to share magical moments with the animals.
Giraffe Centre
20 kilometres south of the capital, the Giraffe Centre welcomes you with open arms. Long-necked giraffes roam freely through the conservation area. The centre breeds only one species of giraffe, the Rothschild giraffe, which can only be found in the grasslands of East Africa. Seeing these majestic ruminants in their natural environment, feeding them and tenderly stroking their manes will be a unique experience that adults and children will remember for a long time.
City tour in Mombasa
A visit to Fort Jesus is undoubtedly one of the must-see things to do in Mombasa and offers the opportunity to learn about the city’s entire colonial history. Built by the Portuguese at the end of the 16th century, the fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We recommend booking a local guide to learn all the little anecdotes about Fort Jesus.
You can also visit the Leavenworth Ethnographic Museum to learn even more about the different cultures in Kenya and the history of this incredible region.
