Lanzarote
Lanzarote captivates visitors with its impressive landscapes, sometimes reminiscent of the surface of Mars, but also with the miracle that emerges from its volcanic soil. Impossible as it may seem, life finds its way into this soil and produces the famous wines with a designation of origin. So, is this island different or not?
Lanzarote is synonymous with volcanoes, lava fields, impossibly shaped rocks, black and reddish earth contrasting with the white of the typical houses, the blue of the sea and the azure of the sky. The Canary Islands’ most oriental landscape is complemented by harsh mountains, beautiful beaches of white and golden sand, lush palm trees… and silence, which is also part of Lanzarote’s mysterious landscape.
The Must-sees of the trip
- Wine tasting in a La Geria wineryThe landscape of La Geria is one of Lanzarote’s greatest surprises. This vast expanse covered in small fragments of black volcanic rock, expelled during the eruptions of Timanfaya, is used by Lanzarote’s farmers to grow vines. This material is capable of retaining moisture overnight, which is crucial on an island where rainfall is scarce. This traditional technique is complemented by the characteristic low stone walls that protect the vines from the wind, creating a spectacular landscape that is unique in the world.
- Visit the Timanfaya National ParkAs a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Timanfaya volcano and its national park are a must-see on the island of Lanzarote. Shaped by volcanic eruptions, Montana del Fuego is nestled in the heart of 5,000 km² of sand dunes, volcanoes and strikingly coloured lava fields. This lunar landscape can be visited by bus, on foot with a guide or even on camelback.
- Visit the Cactus GardenLocated in Guatiza, in the municipality of Teguise, the Cactus Garden is César Manrique’s last major work on Lanzarote, a fascinating creation housing around 4,500 specimens of cactus from some 500 species from five continents.

Las Grietas
Three beautiful fissures, reminiscent of a miniature version of Arizona’s great canyons.
Playa de las Conchas (La Graciosa)
La Graciosa is a small island to the north of Lanzarote, accessible by ferry from the north of Lanzarote. It is considered part of Lanzarote. Because of the need to take a boat and the lack of roads on the island, you’ll see fewer crowds on La Graciosa. And if you head to Playa de las Conchas, you could be almost alone, as it’s at the other end of the island. This beach is breathtaking!
Mirador del Río
Set 500 metres above a cliff, El Mirador del Río offers spectacular panoramic views of Lanzarote and the Chinijo archipelago.
