Laos
Laos, a country that has been spared from mass tourism.
Visit this still very authentic country without all the hordes of tourists such as in Thailand or Bali. A rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and an excellent cuisine.
The Must-sees of the trip
- Luang PrabangBeautiful city on the banks of the legendary Mekong River with a multitude of temples. This city is known for its early morning parades of monks to receive alms from locals and tourists. Visit Mount Phousi at sunset, admire the beautiful Wat Xiengthong temple or eat at the night market at one of the many street food stalls. Don’t miss the dragon boat festival either!
- Vang ViengThis town is known for its hot air balloon rides in fairy-tale settings. This town is also home to The Academy hotel management school with hotel and restaurant, which is co-financed by the Grand Duchy.
- VientianeCapital of Laos with a provincial touch. A very beautiful city with an abundance of temples, especially the Pha That Luang with its golden stupa. Don’t miss the Boun That Luang, the festival of this extraordinary temple, as well as the triumphal arch or the Patuxay victory monument.

Beautiful romantic hotel on the banks of the Nam Song River
Riverside Boutique Hotel
Vang Vieng
Hotel with a spa and pool in a beautiful garden, on the banks of the Nam Song River with a view of the karst mountains. One of the best restaurants in the region. The hotel is a 2-3 minute walk from The Academy hotel management school.
The ideal time to visit is from November to March.
Pak Ou caves and Kuang Si waterfalls
Very nice excursions from Luang Prabang. The waterfalls are beautiful and you can even swim in some of the pools.
SI Phan Don
Translated this name means 4,000 islands. This region lies on the border to Cambodia and is a must if you are in the south of Laos. Accessible via Pakse airport.
Travelling by express train
The Laos-China Railways (LCR) railway line makes it possible to travel on a modern, comfortable and fairly fast train in the north of Laos from the capital Vientiane to the border town with China, Boten. At the same time, this route saves the flight between Vientiane and Luang Prabang.
