It is best known for its huge dunes, including Dune 45, which is 170 metres high. The Dead Vlei is known for its red dunes, the small clay plain and its dead trees.
- Kolmanskop (Kolmannskuppe) – ghost townOn the way to Lüderitz, visit the ghost town of Kolmanskop, which was the richest town in Africa at the height of the diamond rush around 1910, until the First World War and the end of the German colony.
- The Skeleton CoastOn the north-west coast you can probably find the most unusual coastal region, littered with various shipwrecks and often hidden in thick fog. The coast is famous among surfers and offers a wide variety of flora and fauna.
