1. Santiago de ChileSantiago de Chile combines the characteristics of a modern metropolis in an up-and-coming country with those of a city steeped in history from the colonial era. During a private city tour, you will visit both the historic centre and the modern side of Santiago. In the city centre you will see the Presidential Palace, formerly the national mint and therefore called “La Moneda”, the historic main square or “Plaza de Armas” with the cathedral and the beautiful old post office; the “Palacio de la Real Audiencia”, which today houses the National History Museum and the “Casa Colorada”, the historic residence of the governor during the colonial era. Passing the “Cerro San Cristóbal”, a hill in the centre of the city from whose summit a statue of the Virgin Mary overlooks the city, the tour continues to Santiago’s modern business districts
2. Atacameña Farm and Salar de AtacamaGet to know a traditional farm in the Atacama region and taste typical local products. The visit begins with a guided tour of the farm’s own garden, where you will gain an insight into the regional cultivation of fruit and vegetables and livestock farming. You will then learn about the end products and, of course, be able to sample the delicacies produced on the farm. You will also visit the Salar de Atacama, a salt lake of gigantic proportions: 3000 square kilometres! Due to the evaporation of the water, there is a thick layer of snow-white salt crystals on the surface as far as the eye can see. The world’s largest lithium deposits are located here, but the Salar is also home to flamingo species
3. Geysers of El Tatio and Puritama Thermal spaIf you want to experience the geysers of El Tatio in action, you have to get up early, because when the morning sun rises over the hot springs at an altitude of more than 4,300 metres, the fountains spray up to 10 metres high. The light of the rising sun, which touches the hissing fountains of the geysers and makes them glow in many colours, then forms a strong contrast to the rising columns of steam and the surrounding peaks. The excursion starts in the very early hours of the morning in San Pedro in order to be at the geyser field in time for sunrise.
