Longyearbyen is the largest settlement and administrative capital of the Svalbard archipelago in Norway and is located far north of the Arctic Circle. With more than 1,000 inhabitants, it is the northernmost town in the world. Known for its extreme climatic conditions, Longyearbyen plays a central role in Arctic research. The city is located at about 78° north latitude, which means that it is in the polar night during the winter months and enjoys the midnight sun in the summer. Longyearbyen has a unique atmosphere, with colourful houses that blend harmoniously into the snow-covered landscape.

It is an important centre for polar research and is home to several international research stations as well as the Spitsbergen Museum. The region is a destination for adventure travel, with activities such as dog sledding, snowmobile safaris and glacier hikes. Polar bears are common in the area, so it is important to travel with an armed guide. There are no trees in Longyearbyen as the ground is too cold to allow them to grow. The town also serves as a starting point for expeditions to the Arctic, both for scientists and tourists.

Svalbard is an archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, part of Norway and the Svalbard Islands, located around 1,000 kilometres from the North Pole. The region is known for its breathtaking Arctic landscape, characterised by glaciers, fjords and dramatic mountains. Svalbard is home to a variety of wildlife, including polar bears, reindeer, walruses and numerous bird species. Especially during the polar night from October to February, the region offers one of the best opportunities to observe the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). Longyearbyen, the main settlement on Spitsbergen, is the northernmost town in the world with more than 1,000 inhabitants. Spitsbergen is also a centre for polar research and is home to many international research stations. It is a popular destination for expeditions, both on the water and on land. The region has an exciting history, especially in terms of whaling, mining and Arctic expeditions, and historical sites and museums, such as the Spitsbergen Museum in Longyearbyen, offer interesting insights.

Molde is a picturesque town on the west coast of Norway, known for its impressive nature, mild climate and proximity to the fjords. It is located in Fylke Møre og Romsdal and is often referred to as the “City of Roses” due to its beautiful flowers and green landscapes. The city is famous for the breathtaking views of the 222 mountains that surround it and provide an impressive backdrop. Molde offers numerous opportunities for hiking, boating and cycling, with the Romsdalseggen Ridge being particularly noteworthy as it offers one of Norway’s most spectacular hikes with panoramic views of mountains and fjords.
