1. Rothenburg ob der Tauber Christmas MarketTheRothenburg ob der Tauber Christmas Market is one of the most enchanting in Germany, nestling in the heart of a perfectly preserved medieval town. For over 500 years, this tradition has transformed the old town into a fairytale setting, with its illuminated cobbled streets, decorated half-timbered houses and 50 stalls selling crafts, Franconian specialities and spiced mulled wine. The market stretches around Marktplatz, Grüner Markt and Kirchplatz, with the town hall and its giant Advent calendar as a backdrop. The atmosphere is magical, punctuated by local brass bands, shows and the symbolic presence of the ‘Reiterle’, a legendary horseman from Germanic traditions.
2. The Nuremberg Christmas MarketTheNuremberg Christmas Market, the famous Christkindlesmarkt, is one of the oldest and most emblematic in Germany, dating back to the 17th century. Every year, it transforms the main market square (Hauptmarkt) into a veritable miniature city of wood and canvas, with around 180 chalets decorated in red and white.
