Pyramids of Güímar
Located in the south-east of Tenerife, these rectangular pyramid-shaped structures are a curious feature of the island’s landscape. Archaeologists debate their origin and creation. Most theories favour local aborigines and farmers, although some believe the structures are the result of contact between the indigenous people of Tenerife and the Aztecs. This archaeological park is made up of six separate stepped pyramids, built from lava stone and reaching a height of around four metres. The museum offers both an educational journey and a tribute to the traditions and culture of ancient civilisations.
