Tunisia
Tunisia attracts many visitors every year thanks to its idyllic beaches and renowned seaside resorts. History and culture buffs discover ancient sites, while adventurers explore the dunes and oases of the Saharan desert.

Tunisia is one of the world’s great tourist countries, with a wealth and diversity of attractions and over 8 million visitors every year. It’s also one of the favourite destinations of the French, who are the most numerous tourists in the country. People come to Tunisia for the beautiful beaches, the seaside resorts, including the all-inclusive ones, plus the relaxation on the coast south of Tunis in resorts such as Hammamet, Monastir, Port El Kantaoui and the island of Djerba. And of course, there’s the culture of Tunisia to discover, towns and places steeped in history, some of which date back to Roman times and even earlier. Finally, lovers of the desert, oases and adventure will also find their pleasure in Saharan tourism, which is logically well represented in the south around Tozeur and beyond. Dunes and sand, but also and above all arid and rocky landscapes among which to trek on foot or in a 4×4.
In short, there’s something to see and do for every taste…
The Must-sees of the trip

Next door, Sidi Bou Saïd is a refined village whose white and blue houses jostle against the hillside facing the sea. The beaches of Gammarth and La Marsa are close by.
- TunisCapital of Tunisia, Tunis combines both past and future, and offers visitors a wide range of cultural activities with its new districts and various historic centres. Less sought-after than Hammamet or Djerba, Tunis is nevertheless adorned with a thousand lights and has many assets, not least the warm welcome of its inhabitants. Situated on a hill on the shores of Lake Tunis, just a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean, it is also a city that has managed to remain relaxed despite its capital importance. The city centre dates back to the Ottoman Empire, but is surrounded by the infrastructure of a modern Arab city, so Tunis has two hearts. In short, it’s definitely a good choice for a cultural holiday, with World Heritage sites and hundreds of historic monuments.

Luxury and serenity between beach and heritage

Mahdia Palace Resort & Thalasso
BP 134, Zone Touristique, Tunisia
Appreciated for its huge thalasso area, its pool complex and its quality of service, the Mahdia Palace & Thalasso is a popular hotel in Mahdia. It has a traditional setting and enjoys a very pleasant location between a pretty beach and a small golf course. This address is also a good base for those wishing to discover the country’s historical and cultural heritage, starting with the charming port city or the must-see coliseum of El Jem, around thirty kilometres away. The resort is located right by the beach. The centre of Mahdia is approx. 4 km away. Local standards: 5 stars, rooms: 452. High-speed Wi-Fi (at reception). Type of accommodation: half board, full board. The airport is approx. 45 km away.
The holy city of Kairouan and the Coliseum at El Jem
The old town of Kairouan echoes Tunisia’s past with an air of serenity that has changed little over the centuries. On this tour, you’ll discover sites steeped in history, such as the Roman coliseum of El Djem, the second oldest mosque on the African continent and the medina of Kairouan. Karim, one of our expert local guides, explains: “Kairouan is Tunisia’s holiest destination, renowned for its refined Islamic architecture.
The interior of the Great Mosque is made up of endless pillars and arches, colourful carpets and illuminated chandeliers that add to the beauty of the space. Even the drains are decorated with intricate stonework.

Sousse, the pearl of the Sahel
This town, considered to be the capital of the Tunisian Sahel, is very old, having been built by the Phoenicians in the 9th century BC. Today, it owes its reputation as an undisputed capital to a number of advantages: its long, sunny beaches, its pretty marina and, above all, its ancient Arab town surrounded by ramparts. It is also known for its textile, olive and tourism industries.
Sousse has a rich architectural and historical heritage. The Great Mosque, the Ribat, the online slots archaeological museum and the Catacombs are historic monuments of exceptional beauty. The souks of the medina are home to shops for tourists, and the stroll through its winding streets is very pleasant.

Monastir
Take a tour of the old town, shop in the souks and stroll along the seafront opposite the marina. Don’t miss the city’s most famous landmark: the Grand Ribat. This medieval fortress is a maze of courtyards and round and square towers. Don’t hesitate to climb to the top of the high watchtower: the panorama over the sea and the medina is breathtaking.
