Three days in the Black Forest – nature, relaxation and warm hospitality

Travel experiences from Estelle | 14-16 May 2025

Three intensive, inspiring days in the heart of the Black Forest – characterised by nature, hospitality and genuine warmth. Together with dedicated colleagues, CFL Evasion and ULT took me on a journey of discovery through one of the most beautiful regions in Germany.

First stop: Freiburg

Our adventure began in Freiburg – a lively university city with historical charm. We discovered regional delicacies at the colourful weekly market and took two hours to stroll through the alleyways – with a delicious currywurst as a culinary prelude.

Arrival at Titisee

Our accommodation, the Hotel Maritim Titisee, was located directly on the shore – with a breathtaking view over the shimmering lake, which enchanted us every morning.

Special hotel highlights:

  • An indoor pool open 24/7
  • A fresh and regional breakfast buffet
  • Room with balcony and a fantastic lake view
  • A cosy beer garden right on the water
  • Central location on the pedestrian promenade

Wonderful experiences at Titisee :

  • Glide silently across the water in an electric boat – a tranquil yet exciting experience.
  • A hike on the 6 km circular trail – fresh forest air, panoramic views and real relaxation.
  • Black Forest cherry cocktails with a view of the water – Pure enjoyment with a holiday vibe

Final thoughts on Titisee

Lake Titisee combines everything you need for a successful short break: Nature, relaxation and enjoyable moments.

Hotel tours in Hinterzarten & Todtnauberg

The next day’s programme included exciting hotel tours at Hotel Thomahof and Hotel Schwarzwaldhof.

Hotel Thomahof – Hinterzarten

This lovingly family-run hotel is located in the heart of the Upper Black Forest – an oasis of peace. The elegant wellness area with panorama pool, sauna area and brine spa invites you to disconnect. Guests are treated to culinary delights with homemade specialities and loving attention to detail – from breakfast to afternoon cake. Whether hiking, consciously slowing down or simply enjoying yourself – the Thomahof combines authentic hospitality with first-class comfort!

Hotel Schwarzwaldhof – Hinterzarten

The cosy Hotel Schwarzwaldhof is located right in the heart of Hinterzarten – a place that immediately impresses with its authentic charm and family-run management.
Here, traditional Black Forest style meets genuine hospitality. The rooms are furnished with great attention to detail and offer everything you need for an all-round relaxing stay.

A very special moment of pleasure: lunch in the hotel’s own restaurant. Regional, fresh and lovingly prepared – a cuisine that lets you taste the Black Forest.
A place where you feel welcome from the very first moment – perfect for a little time out in a genuine Black Forest atmosphere.

Afterwards, we were able to experience the regional cuisine of the Schwarzwaldhof at the highest level – another culinary highlight of this trip.

Pure nature: Blackforestline & Todtnau waterfall

The short circular trail with suspension bridge and the impressive Todtnau waterfall was a real nature experience. Spectacular views, numerous photo opportunities and the clear, fresh mountain air awaited us over just 1.4 kilometres – a highlight for all the senses.

Ravenna Gorge

In the evening, our route took us to Breitnau, where we had dinner at the historic Hofgut Sternen right next to the impressive Ravenna Gorge. In this special atmosphere, surrounded by nature and history, the day came to an atmospheric end – with a very special Black Forest flair.

Conclusion at the Hotel Bären – Titisee-Neustadt

To round off our FAM trip, we headed to the stylish 4-star Hotel Bären – just a few minutes’ walk from Lake Titisee, in a quiet yet central location. We were particularly impressed by the modern wellness area with a spacious roof terrace, stylish sauna area and exclusive private spa suites – ideal for switching off and relaxing.

The rooms combine authentic Black Forest flair with contemporary comfort, while the cuisine delights with creative crossover gastronomy – also vegan on request. A hotel that combines tranquillity, enjoyment and nature in a special way – the ideal end to our trip!

My personal conclusion

In addition to the exciting insights into the region’s hotel industry, we had enough spare time for personal conversations, moments of relaxation and a mindful experience of this special region. The Black Forest once again proved itself to be a charming, diverse and high-quality destination – perfect for anyone looking for nature, enjoyment and genuine hospitality.

A big thank you to all the hosts, the hotels we visited and the great organisation team. I leave filled with lasting impressions, meaningful encounters, and plenty of inspiration – touched by the magic of the Black Forest.
